EMF: It's Everywhere!
The purpose of the group's investigation was to measure EMF of appliances and test a lead and aluminum shield to block EMF by using a gauss meter (60 cycles/sec). They measured at the surface and at three other distances a user may operate the object at. Also, the meter was placed in a lead and aluminum box to test if it reduced EMF.
Results showed when the user is farthest from the object with a lead shield, they are exposed to less EMF. The group concluded the EMF a user is exposed to surpass the recommended safety levels at certain distances. They recommend a shield when practical, and keeping a safe distance. The group concluded that more research will be needed as our society becomes more technological to find practical, cost effective ways to shield EMF.
